Annie Bello won’t get to fight for new causes in the 2021-22 television season. ABC has cancelled the Rebel TV series so there won’t be a second year.
A drama, the Rebel TV show is inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today and stars Katey Sagal, John Corbett, James Lesure, Lex Scott Davis, Tamala Jones, Ariela Barer, Kevin Zegers, Sam Palladio, and Andy Garcia. Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Rebel averages a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings.
The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The series follows Grey’s Anatomy on the schedule but performs poorly in the ratings and loses a lot of its lead-in audience. It’s one of the lowest-rated freshman series on the network this season.

I mean come in ABC why are you cancelling Rebel. I love this show, the chemistry between the actors is great. I mean you don’t give shows a chance. Shame for shame no reason at all

My husband and I agree with all the other positive comments from other viewers of Rebel. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the show and taped it so we wouldn’t miss an episode. Great cast of actors.

Very disappointed that you didn’t give Rebel a chance. I’ve watched the first 5 episodes. And the story line was really good. You don’t cancel a show mid season. Very disappointed ABC!

This is a great show and ABC is not giving it a chance but they will put that stupid dancing with the stars show back on! Horrible decision by ABC!

What is with networks anymore? They don’t give a show half a chance at success before canceling it. They air these shows with soooo many commercials that nothing has a chance anymore because no one wants to vest their time into a show that has more commercials than air time, then cancel them like they weren’t good shows. And no one wants to vest their time in a series that these days has more of a chance of being canceled than not. Just don’t care the networks. It’s all politically correct in this show had nothing politically correct about it. Since they canceled it and we’re going to get a politically correct TV show in its place. It’s a really bad time to be a TV watcher, because no matter how good a show is or how bad a show is the show is ultimately decided by what benefits the network can get in that being politically correct being the winner. Sad but that’s the way TV networks run
Just wondering. How is “Big Sky” politically correct? ABC appears to have renewed that show. The stories are atrocious. Brutality, psychological torture, violence against women, transgender and children. Do viewers really want to see weekly reimagined torture and brutality scenarios, whether fictional or not? Literally 4 episodes and your just going to cancel? Sounds like something ABC would do. How about this…why don’t you all just keep Greys Anatomy on for another 17 seasons. The only reason people watch greys is because there’s nothing else to watch.
Really disappointed in the cancellation – Rebel is a really good show! Great acting, plot/s, intelligent informed writing, very current. Too bad ABC is cancelling another great show…
