ABC may have found its next location to expand the 9-1-1 franchise. According to Deadline, the network is looking at Hawaii for a new 9-1-1 series. Las Vegas was previously in consideration.
A third series has been in the works for a while, but the franchise’s creators, Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, did not want to overpopulate the airwaves with 9-1-1-based shows.
With 9-1-1: Lone Star (above) ending with its fifth season, the door is open for another series on ABC. However, it has not yet been given the greenlight.
Hawaii will not be an easy sell, though. Filming in the state is expensive, and with FOX’s first responder drama, Rescue: Hi-Surf, filming in Hawaii, it might be even more complex.
The following was said about the challenges a Hawaii-based 9-1-1 could face:
Filming in Hawaii is not without its challenges — most of them financial — which makes setting a 9-1-1 series there a not-so-straightforward proposition. Home of some of TV’s most iconic series, such as Gilligan’s Island, the two incarnations of Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. as well as Lost, Hawaii is an expensive location that is harder to fit into the continuously trimmed TV budgets, especially in linear TV.

YES, PLEASE, I watch every show set in Hawaii. I would certainly watch a 911 set in Hawaii!
I had another about a spinoff location besides my 1st & fav spot of Miami or other Florida locales.
How about a spinoff using helicopter rescues such as 9-1-1 character Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr) pilots. Showing daring mountain rescues & such. The location could be in anywhere with such terrain, like someone else mentioned Denver or Montana, even in the Smokey Mountains (my personal fav).
The risk with Hawaii is it will likely be short lived & cancelled due to the financial challenges of Hawaii, much like NCIS Hawaii & others filmed there
I already love 911. I will watch were ever it is done. I am a loyal fan of the show. So I support it no matter what
Just move 911 Lonestar to ABC and call it a day. A show with such a diverse cast doesn’t belong on Fox.

They should go to Alaska or some place less common. Montana or Wyoming. Or Denver, it has the population and it would be a fresh location.
I definitely love 911 and would live to see it take off in Hawaii!! Looking forward to the spin off series no matter what but I think Hawaii would be a great change for the show!
I don’t want lone star to be finish both 911 are awesome adding a 3rd anywhere will be great and why does it have to be the west cost. Us east people will have all the 911 actors.
Look how it worked out with NCIS Hawaii. I’m still angry about that.

I love 9-1-1 & would love to see it in Hawaii. Although, I think Miami would also be a great location if they can’t greenlight the Hawaii location.
I think Hawaii has been done to death so I really don’t have much interest in this possibility.
I would love to see a 911 series in Hawaii.
