As has become the norm, ABC didn’t announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but the show wasn’t cancelled either. They just kept it on the air. Will General Hospital survive to see a 58th season for the 2020-21 broadcast season? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.
Debuting on April 1st of 1963, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. The current season’s cast includes Maurice Benard, Tamara Braun, Steve Burton, William deVry, Chad Duell, Michael Easton, Genie Francis, Max Gail, Nancy Lee Grahn, Briana Nicole Henry, Rebecca Herbst, Roger Howarth, Finola Hughes, William Lipton, Katelyn MacMullen, Sofia Mattsson, Eden McCoy, Kelly Monaco, Wes Ramsey, Emme Rylan, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Donnell Turner, Maura West, and Laura Wright.

For comparisons: The 2018-19 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.30 million total viewers.

I watch GH on hulu the day after is airs on tv I love this show it’s the best soap out there it needs to be renewed all the different and exciting story lines and people come back from the dead its crazy good so please please renew!!!!!

Please do not cancel GH. I’m 75 & watch it everyday & I even record it to watch again. They are like family to me. My 2 daughters even watch it then we talk about the storyline. These are great actors & actresses especially if you don’t like a character. Now that’s good acting. Thank you for keeping GH alive.

I’ve been watching GH for decades, since I was a kid. Many of the actors are powerhouses/stellar, and the writing is typically good. Many of us GH viewers are long-time, extremely loyal ones. As another commenter said here, GH is her special treat every day. For me, it is my escape from my own stressful life. I’d love to see GH stay on the air for decades to come. It’s a staple!
I have watched GH since it’s 1st show with my grandma. And now it’s the only soap I watch. It’s my special treat. I record it every day and save it’s viewing for lunchtime or when I need to escape from real life. So please put all of us fans out of our misery and RENEW NOW so we have our favorite show to look forward to every day. !

I have been watching General Hospital from almost day one. I definitely want it to continue since ABC made the big mistake of taking both ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN off the air!! I don’t know why demographics only show people up to age 49, what about the viewers over that age who have been watching since they were 15 yrs old? They need to RENEW, RENEW, RENEW NOW!!!!
The remaining Soap Operas must remain on the air. 2 million + viewers is enough. These are loyal fans for many many years and generations. It has outlasted many daytime shows and will continue.
It needs a new head writer and stop killing off lead people they kill off too many ,get back to the basics of daytime . Monica has lost to many family members
Finally someone acknowledged the truth. Major changes are needed. I too feel like they picked off the quartermaines like it was open season. I doubt they will learn from amc and one life’s mistakes.
GH should stay on the air. Frank Valentini should be fired as showrunner because he is the one dragging the show down. FV plays favorites and demands stories for his pets rather than stories that work for the show. He hires people based on who he likes and wants to help rather than who works for the show. Valentini is a huge problem. GH needs to bring back Wendy Riche and do some serious cast clearing. If GH is rebuilt and telling good stories with chemistry filled couples (unlike the lackluster pairings we get now) then people will watch!
Please keep General Hospital on the air!
