It looks like the Project Blue Book TV series is going MIA. Deadline reports that the scripted TV show has been cancelled after two seasons.
Airing on the History cable channel, the Project Blue Book TV series stars Aidan Gillen, Michael Malarkey, Neal McDonough, Michael Harney, Laura Mennell, and Ksenia Solo. The show is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Gillen), a brilliant college professor. He was recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead the Project Blue Book clandestine operation. He’s partnered with Air Force Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey). In season two, they quest for the truth and delve deeper into themes of global conspiracy, look at how UFOs have impacted the evolution of the nation’s military practices and technology and lean into the nostalgia of the 1950s.
The second season of Project Blue Book averaged a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.30 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 32% in the demo and down by 22% in viewership. The final episode aired on March 24th.
History’s Knightfall has also been cancelled after two seasons so this leaves Vikings as the channel’s only remaining scripted series. That show is currently in its sixth and final season with the final 10 episodes still waiting to be scheduled.
What do you think? Did you enjoy the Project blue Book TV series? Would you have watched a third season on History?
Yes, I would have!
I followed Dr.Hynek’s work since “The Incident at Exeter” in 1967 and corresponded with his Air Force Liaison Officer. I met Prof. Hynek in 1978 at a DOD/NASA UFO Conference at the Kennedy Space Center when I was assigned there as an Air Force Pilot. Despite some of the “over-the-top” drama/plot elements, the series was a tribute to Dr. Hynek, his associates, and The-Greatest-Generation, as well as America in the early 1950s. The show was thought-provoking and a welcome addition to the current attitude of Disclosure by the the US, UK, CAN, and other Governments. Unfortunately, such value-added-programming often does… Read more »
A shame it is. There is hardly any point in watching new American series. Why? Anyhow, life continues. There seems to be a lot of chatter between our forgotten terrestrial friends and the rest of the crowd atm. Enough that we should REALLY start behaving.
Yes! I have been excited to see what else they were about to find out! I am not at all surprised, though. It is a conspiracy, no doubt. I must add a little smile amidst my melancholy and deep, although predictable, disappointment. As alas, this is what oft times happens to fine gems of television. They are hid away, whilst we are left to muddle through the seemingly endless trash that takes their place. (Yeah, great show, loved it, expected it would get axed as it requires brain cells to understand – after the first 100 or so shows that… Read more »
Very disappointed that project blue book has been cancelled. I was waiting for season premiere
project blue book was a fantastic show
So disappointed ☹️ I personally enjoyed the series more than any I’ve seen in several years.
It’s funny some of the worst series are on for years , makes you wonder if it didn’t touch on too many sensitive topics.
I hope they reconsider.
No kidding Chris..how many years has Survivor been on…or Big Brother? Project Bluebook was the type of “reality show” that interests me and apparently a few here. Maybe Smithsonian could pick it up.
Please bring Project Bluebook back!
Will another channel carry that show?
We love this show, just talking about it again last night how we could not wait until next season and wish their seasons were longer! Best show offered on television now and a must see! How disappointing!!
We Loved Project Blue Book! I can’t understand why you would cancel a great show. Please reconsider!!!!
This show was fantastic and to know it followed the Doctors notes. I can NOT believe you cancelled this show. I remember watching Project Blue Book in the 1960s with my Dad, who spent 23 years in the Air Force (a WWII, Korea & Vietnam vet). He always watched it so now looking back I wonder if maybe he saw something in his career that made him so interested in the show. Then when History said they were having Project Blue Book based on the Doctors notes I had to watch it. This show is FANTASTIC and so I hope… Read more »
my wife and I have a running sarcastic joke that every series we enjoy is a Death Knell. If we are neutral or hate it , it stays. But when we love, or at least enjoy it…… it gets chopped. No wonder streaming services are doing so well. They seem to be more flexible than standard broadcasters!
Great TV show, and unlike anything else being aired these days. It’s a real shame they have decided to cancel it.
Loved this show, I’m very disappointed that they have cancelled it.
Loved it looked forward to more episodes should come back !
I REALLY LIKED THIS SHOW…..EVERYTIME I WATCH SOMETHING UNIQUE AND INTERESTING…IT GETS CANCELLED. IT WAS WELL DONE AND FOLLOWED FAMOUS SIGHTINGS. I KNOW TV LIVES BY RATINGS BUT YOU PAY TOO MUCH FOR THESE RATINGS….THIS SHOW WAS GREAT.
My husband and I so looked forward to Project Bluebook every week! Loved the characters and the story lines. Please bring it back!
