Trading Spaces is getting ready for its return in early 2018, and several cast members from the original series are returning for the revival. These returns include members of the design team. It was previously revealed that Paige Davis was also returning for the revival. She was one of the hosts of the series when it originally aired.
TLC revealed more about the return of this series in a press release and new video. Check both out below.
“TLC is tapping into the nostalgia of the much-anticipated return of TRADING SPACES by bringing back several of the original cast members. Included in the roster of designers are Doug Wilson, Carter Oosterhouse, Frank Bielec, Genevieve Gorder, Hildi Santo-Tomas, Laurie Smith, Ty Pennington and Vern Yip. Joining these familiar faces are new design experts and carpenters Brett Tutor, Joanie Sprague, John Gidding, Kahi Lee and Sabrina Soto. With a combined over 30 years of experience between them, this lineup is well-equipped to help homeowners tackle their ambitious redesign projects.
The design team’s creativity and skill will be put to the test to help neighbors redecorate a room in each other’s home. While utilizing a small renovation budget and a large amount of imagination, the designers and homeowners work together to complete the makeover for each of the rooms. Transforming a room with a limited budget can be a tricky task, but these designers are excited to dive right in and exercise their creative muscles. They can barely wait to see the spaces and come up with new, fresh ideas.
For the alumni cast members, returning to TRADING SPACES is like returning home and, after a 10-year hiatus, they are especially excited to jump right back in with familiar friends and some fresh faces.

TRADING SPACES is produced by Endemol Shine North America subsidiary Authentic Entertainment and is based on Endemol Shine UK format ‘Changing Rooms’, which was a top rated hit for the BBC for almost a decade achieving up to 12 million viewers and sold to 12 territories internationally.”
Do you plan to check out the return of Trading Spaces? Tell us what you think.
I was interested in watching the reboot, because I used to watch the original series. I was disappointed to see designers putting burlap and bicycle tire treads on walls as “art.” It isn’t fun to see designers destroying someone’s room. The “grass bed” episode was the last one I watched of the original series. I don’t need to see more of this series.
I am extremely to see the return of the show, However, I do hope this time they keep Designers ego’s in check… Especially Doug and Hildi who in the past destroyed peoples homes with all black and all white themes. It was sad to see the guest to completely heart broken. I think the goal of any design is to bring out something within the client that touches their core. That means something to them, not the egotistical two.
So pleased to see the return of Trading Spaces. Too bad Hildi didn’t stay in France.
agrees
I feel the same way you do. She destroys peoples rooms. Would she do that to her home???
I loved the show back in the day, but quit watching episodes in which designers insisted their design was art and didn’t consider the homeowner’s wishes, family, ability to clean and care for the space. It was painfully cringe-worthy. Please, designers, be considerate, the people have to live in and clean these spaces and while some of the designs might make for dramatic reveals, they aren’t practical for real people with real lives.
I watched the show tonight and was disappointed. Two very ugly rooms. I felt the designers did not take into account what the customer wanted. Probably will not watch again.
Can you tell me time date and channel?? I assume TLC???
Can’t wait for tonight!!!! I’ve been watching old episodes continuously for the past two weeks. Can’t believe how much I’ve missed this program! I’m psyched & ready to roll with the new show!!!
Trading Spaces was my all time favorite show! So happy it’s back!
