The Gifted TV show won’t be back for a third season on FOX. The network cancelled the X-Men universe drama two months after its season two finale. Reportedly, there exists some chance that the Marvel series could return someday to a Disney-owned outlet, but nothing is currently in the works.
A FOX superhero drama, The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Skyler Samuels, and Grace Byers. Based on a Marvel Comics alternate timeline, the show follows two ordinary parents with mutant children who go on the run from the government and join an underground community of mutants.
The Gifted: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of The Gifted on FOX averaged a 0.59 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.95 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 41% and 41%, respectively. In terms of its demo numbers, it ranked 15th out of the 16 scripted FOX TV shows we’re tracking. When sorted by total audience it dropped to last place, just behind the comedy, Rel, which was also cancelled today.
The family adventure series, set in Marvel’s X-Men universe, comes from 20th Century Fox TV, which now is part of Disney.
I hear that there have been no real conversations but there is a chance for The Gifted to find a new home within the Disney family. The show is produced by Marvel Television, which currently has series on Disney-owned Freeform and Disney-controlled Hulu. (Disney+’s Marvel series come from the company’s movie division.)

Nooo!!!! We love “the Gifted”! Good writing. Myself, husband, and teenager kids all watch it! We would love to see Hulu pick this up. Please continue the Gifted… It is a Gem. Want to see characters flesh out and grow.
I am very disappointed in the cancellation of The Gifted. I am very hopeful that Disney will pick up the Marvel series that were on TV and has been cancelled. I especially want The Gifted picked up. I loved the storyline and the way the series was going. It is very upsetting that the network just cancelled ir just when so many storylines were just coming out and forming. I liked it.
It’s almost not worth bothering to watch anything on TV anymore… We lose good shows so terrible ones can be renewed year after year. I can’t count how many shows I’ve loved, ones that most of my friends loved that get canceled at season 2. Tired of getting into a storyline and never getting to see it play out.
Fox cancels another awesome series! I loved the show from day one. I hope another network picks it up or maybe they’ll put it on Hulu. You look forward to a show continuing for another season. And when they really get the story line built up, it gets cancelled. Frustrating to start watching new shows, to be let down by early cancelations.
I love the gifted & am beyond upset to here that they have cancelled the show. The storyline was just building & I feel like it could be a big show they just haven’t advertised it a lot. It’s a lot more interesting than it looked from the commercials. I really hope they choose to bring the show back but if not I will follow them wherever they go.
I’m beyond disappointed the TV show The Gifted has been canceled & I will follow them if another tv station like fox or apps like Netflix,Prime or Hulu. I was looking forward to seeing the new episode especially after the way it ended last season
I love the show The Gifted & I would follow them to any other station or viewing platform to continue watching. I’m so bummed they canceled it especially when how it last ended.
Very disappointed The gifted is being cancelled. I watch it on Hulu now. Why are they always cancelling shows that are good. I’m in the 59 year range and I say it’s good.
I really enjoyed this show.. but I think Netflix would be a better home as they’ve already hosted Marvel and DC shows that turned out great.
I highly agree with you! I don’t understand why they cancelled The Gifted, however I do feel it would find a much better home and audience with @Netflix. They picked up another great show Lucifer, when it was cancelled. I KNOW that The Gifted would do amazing on Netflix, it has a huge following, just like Lucifer. What do you say Netflix?
I really enjoyed The Gifted and I am very disappointed that it was canceled. PLEASE bring it back the characters were fantastic. This show had a good story line and was just getting started.
Why why why!!!! would they not put The Gifted season 3 on Fox. It’s one of the best marvel shows I’ve seen. I dont mind disney but for real, this show is not meant for disney.

I am very dissapointed that The Gifted has been cancelled. I enjoyed watching the show and liked the characters a lot. I really hope that Disney picks this show up for season 3.
The superhero movies are good but watching The Gifted was, well, my movie night on TV. It didn’t matter what night it shows to me but maybe the night switch from season 1 to season 2 made a difference. If the series were to move to a different network, that would only bother me if I don’t have the new channel or a way to access the new channel. It would be nice to see one of the series that I liked not get it’s pink slip.
I am so tired of investing my time & interest in a show, and it gets snatched from out of the “very good shows” and we are left with” something to pass the time”. I really hope it gets picked up with another network. Very disappointed!!
