The Kids Are Alright stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The 1970s-period comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Since its the ’70s, Peggy (McCormack) and Mike (Cudlitz) are raising their kids with a lack of supervision which might stun today’s parents, and now their eldest son wants to quit the seminary to go “save the world.” The times they are a-changing, and the Cleary family is not immune to the turbulence around them.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of The Kids Are Alright is averaging a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.15 million viewers.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Kids Are Alright is in 11th place in the demo and 10th place in total viewership.

Disagree. Not many shows we can watch as a family. This was one of them. Too bad we have to watch garbage instead of a nice family.
I don’t understand. #10 rated ABC show out of 21 and you cancel it. If you need to cancel a show how about #20 or #21. WAS a very funny show. A shame. 🙁
So sad this show is going off the air. As a mom of just two boys it brought joy and laughter to my week. What a great ensemble of actors. Sad to see them split up.

You finally come up with a GOOD situation comedy and you cancel it. This is really disappointing!
What a gem of a show. The acting is great. The storylines are unique. The meaning behind the lines makes you think. So much better than much of the drivel we are seeing renewed.
This was a great show! So mad this has been canceled. It was the best representation of growing up catholic in the 70’s! Hulu please pick this up!!!!
Sad. I lived in the early 70’s as a kid. I can relate to some many well written characters. A great show left in the dust. Maybe someone will pick it up. I hope so!
ABC does this all the time. They cancel shows the majority of people love. They leave it up to a hand full of people to judge the ratings. The ratings system need a complete overhaul and leave it up to EVERY household to vote. How bout a voting system related to what cable or satellite company you belong too, and if none, go online and vote or send in. I can guarantee that this show would of not been canceled. Are you kidding? TKAA is a great show. Great cast, great concept, great script. You’re going to substitute some cookie cutter sitcom ( American Housewife I’m looking at you) for something original like TKAA. The interaction between all these characters is good for 100’s of episodes.
When the opening credits are on and I see the toddler with a marshmallow on the stick all alone in the back yard with the grill, I crack up every time.
Heartbroken. The show was perfect and hilarious. Every character a star and the writing so on point. ABC really messed up.
What a great show. So nostalgic for me growing up Catholic in the 1970s. So sad to hear it’s cancelled. Loved these characters.
I will miss this show. This is the first time in a long time I actually looked forward to watching a TV show. I hope maybe another network will pick it up.
