The Kids Are Alright stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The 1970s-period comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Since its the ’70s, Peggy (McCormack) and Mike (Cudlitz) are raising their kids with a lack of supervision which might stun today’s parents, and now their eldest son wants to quit the seminary to go “save the world.” The times they are a-changing, and the Cleary family is not immune to the turbulence around them.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of The Kids Are Alright is averaging a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.15 million viewers.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Kids Are Alright is in 11th place in the demo and 10th place in total viewership.

I love this show. I enjoyed every episode and the actors were great! Can’t understand why it wasn’t given more of a chance. So many stupid reality shows still going strong and getting rid of real entertainment. Shame!!!
We love it. Have laughed through every episode. So sorry it won’t be back next fall.
One of best shows from last season. My wife and I laughed during every episode because it was ‘real’…………way to go network execs. Keep bringing us crap and cancelling the good ones. Do you really know what good television is anymore?
Oh no! This show is hilarious! All the one- liners are great. Would be a good Friday night show. Possibly a schedule change and another network would save it.
Anyone who grew up in the late 60’s and the 70’s will appreciate the nostalgia. Really one of the most delightful and entertaining shows on TV. I’ve told so many friends and family and they all watch it now.
Oh, no! The show is so funny, with a mix of heartfelt and heartless…in a good way. I hate to see this one go. If we are lucky, another network will pick this up for another season.
always cancel the shows we love, and keep the “garbage” that no one watches. Just don’t understand these networks. The kids was great!
The kids is a very funny and entertaining show, great characters, awesome potential story lines, like the Goldbergs, but more sarcastic/funny. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED that the kids are going away, Big Bang took a few seasons to find it’s way, Kids could do the same if given a chance. Cancellation is a BIG mistake!!
I just watched the whole season….loved it…. Very sad that it has been cancelled.
Typical – anything that is even remotely watchable gets cancelled but so called “reality” garbage just keeps being renewed over and over…
I watched every episode. A couple were not so good, but most were nostalgic, funny, and thoughtful. So sorry it has been cancelled…would love to watch the Cleary boys grow for years to come.
