The reboots of Magnum PI and MacGyver will go forward without their creator. Peter Lenkov has been fired by CBS following an investigation into a complaint of a toxic work environment on MacGyver. The network has also terminated its production deal with the executive producer as well.
Deadline shared the following statement from CBS:
“Peter Lenkov is no longer the executive producer overseeing MacGyver and Magnum PI, and the Studio has ended its relationship with him. Our Studio is committed to ensuring safe and respectful production environments. Over the past year, we have assigned human resource production partners to every show, expanded staff training and increased reporting options. We will continue to evolve our practices with continued focus on building trust with all who work on our sets. Every complaint is taken seriously, every claim is investigated, and when evidence is clear that policies were violated and values not upheld, we take decisive action.”
Lenkov also released his own statement. He said:
“Now is the time to listen and I am listening. It’s difficult to hear that the working environment I ran was not the working environment my colleagues deserved, and for that, I am deeply sorry. I accept responsibility for what I am hearing and am committed to doing the work that is required to do better and be better.”
For the upcoming 2020-21 seasons of the reboot dramas, executive producer Monica Macer will run MacGyver and executive producer Eric Guggenheim will take over running Magnum PI. Both shows are expected to return to CBS sometime this fall.

I will continue to watch both shows .They are great shows because of the Crew, Writers, Actors, and Support Staff that keep us watching. I enjoy my Fridays because of these shows. Even the reruns are enjoyable the second time.
In my years of dealing with Mr. Lenkov, I found him to be professional in manner and one who treated those around him with respect, including myself. Never did he exhibit any of these traits in my observation of his interaction with his colleagues.
Please renew and continue both MacGyver and Magnum PI

Uk fan of both shows really hope they continue. Especially if this means georges eads is back in macgyver Im definitely thinking this has something to do with his departure
I applaud the network for taking these allegations seriously and looking into them as well as taking Swift action to correct the problem. I would like to go on to say I do watch Magnum PI and MacGyver as well as used to watch Hawaii Five-O until it was canceled .Magnum and Hawaii Five-O were two of my favorite shows and I wish they would bring back Five-O, even if it is without Alex and Scott. I really don’t care what goes on behind the camera and the production staff. As long as the end product is to my liking and Its something I watch, that’s all I care about.
It’s just TV, not preservation of life…
Wondering if this had anything to do with George Eads leaving MacGyver. The show has never been the same without him.
