One Day at a Time will premiere on Netflix on Friday, and the series will see two legends at work. Rita Moreno and Norman Lear are working together on this revival. Moreno is in front of the camera as the mother of the main character, and Lear helped bring the series to life. This is the first time the pair have worked together in their long careers.
Moreno said the following about working with Lear on the Netflix series:
“I figured our trains were destined never to meet at the same station, and that was a very great disappointment to me. And now look at us—two old farts having the time of our lives making this crazy TV show!”
Lear also spoke about bringing this new series to life. He is focused on the present. He said the following, according to TV Insider:
“It’s nice to have the validation, but if I really like the work we’re doing here—and I very much do—then my mind won’t be changed by anyone else’s opinion. I’m not interested in the ’70s and the ’80s,” he notes. “I’m only interested in the right-nows.”

This was a bad idea! Why take a classic comedy and turn it on it’s head still call it the same name? There is hardly a resemblance. They should have just made a “new” program and put it on Reg TV.
