Jupiter’s Legacy was cancelled just two weeks after its premiere in a shocking move by Netflix. Now, it’s been revealed that a number of issues were a factor in the quick cancellation.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the issues included going over budget (the streamer had allotted $9 million per episode), delays caused by the pandemic, and an extra-long period of post-production once filming had wrapped. A shuffle at the executive level is also mentioned as another contributor to the cancellation.
There are still plans for another series in the Jupiter universe, however. The following was revealed about that project:
“Millar and Netflix spun the cancellation by saying Jupiter is going to be a universe, with a new live-action series — based on an unrelated Millar comic titled Supercrooks — given a series order and put under the Jupiter umbrella. Several rival executives questioned why you would lasso yourself to a failed launch, but others noted it does allow the company to gauge the initial awareness winds generated by Jupiter while still allowing Bajaria — between Supercrooks and reviving previously sidelined project The Magic Order — to put her own stamp on Millarworld.”

I am so Disappointment In Netflix y’all cancel another amazing show this have me very upset Because whyy .Not too Mention the show had me very excited it’s leave’s a mystery behind every episode I think this is one of the best superhero’s Shows I ever watched but Netflix you guy’s need to do better that’s why people switching to Hulu because they don’t cancel any shows of theirs ♂️
How can they cancel a show on that cliff hanger only series I can say I actually got hooked on was emotional and u was invested in each character what a load of old shite fuming
Great! Absolutely amazing. Netflix cancelling yet again another amazing show that had an exponential amount of potential. This show honestly is one of the only shows that had me emotionally connect with the characters to a large extent, sure I do with other series but not like this show.. very disappointed.
What in the world why on earth would u cancel Jupiter Legacy! So I sat and watched this for nothing. Just so yall can leave us hanging. I was so ready to see the next volume. And go to read it got canceled. That is some nonsense. Makes me want to cancel my Netflix
Well isn’t this bloody brilliant! Last episode to watch tonight and they have only gone and cancelled it. It has such an amazing cast and I was truly hooked. F**K you netflix
YOU ARE CRAZY FOR CANCELING JUPITER’S LEGACY!! Not only is it one of the BEST “super hero” shows that has came out in years but the storyline is actually a really good one with great meaning behind each episode not to mention with special effects that are amazing and a cast second to none! Netflix you are fools for canceling this series!!
Another reason NOT to renew my subscription, it seems that as soon as you find a series worth watching Netflix cancels it. This has occurred too many times now and I think its time to looks elsewhere, this new era of streaming and paying for so many different options is getting old. the only series you see getting pushed are cheap rubbish or remakes due to producers having not original ideas.
Why do you keep cancelling great shows? This isn’t the first one. You keep shows on that have no substance but cancel the ones that do like Jupiter’s Legacy with great actor’s to boot. What’s wrong with you? Fine, there’s going to be a spin off but what if so many of us love the original?
It seems that Netflix cancels a lot of really great shows, Jupiter legacy be the latest. I think I might drop Netflix because of this.
I watched and enjoyed the series and saw it as a decent origin to the universe I would have liked to have seen more of. This series was basically sent out to die with it being given zero backing with no trailers being released (as far as I know) more than a month ahead of the actual release so how exactly was this series supposed to get publicity? I have been a Netflix fan for many years. However, there were quite a few series I enjoyed watching only to have them be cancelled. From blogs I have come across, there are quite a lot of people who similarly felt some of their favorite shows were cancelled and inane shows kept going. REALLY!!!

Fck Netflix man, they are turning into SciFi, canceling every show left and right without even giving it a proper chance to grow. This show had potential and some interesting moral questions were asked in it, questions we don’t get that often, or at all, in other superhero shows. Really disappointed in Netflix as of late
