Get ready for some kung fu fighting! The CW is developing a reboot of the David Carradine series for its network. On the new Kung Fu, a female will play the lead. The team behind Blindspot, Martin Gero and Christina M. Kim, on NBC is behind this new series. Greg Berlanti & Sarah Schechter are also involved in the new series.
Deadline revealed the following about the new Kung Fu:
“In the re-imagined Kung Fu, a quarter-life crisis causes a young Chinese-American woman to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns to find her hometown overrun with crime and corruption, she uses her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice…all while searching for the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.”
This re-imaging of Kung Fu has been in development for some time. FOX showed interest in the series the last two seasons with a put pilot commitment. Greg Berlanti & Sarah Schechter were behind the FOX incarnations of the reboot.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the original Kung Fu? Will you watch the reboot if it lands on CW next season?
Totally not watching it
The list of worst ideas in the history of bad ideas is getting longer…
Count me out! Advice, stick with the original story line, and stop switching the gender of the lead actor!
As ridiculous as Queen Latifah trying to fill Edward Woodward’s shoes. Most of these reboots are junk, better off watching the real thing. I cringe at the thought of HBO making Perry Mason into a detective, ugh.
Is *every* establish show to be re-shot by feministas in pursuit of the ‘woke’ obsession with destroying all male characters? If female characters aren’t only pawns to replace existing male roles, why don’t they have their own original shows (there are some) rather than steal old ideas?
