It looks like Taskmaster has been cancelled on The CW. The British unscripted series aired for one episode on the network and has now been pulled. The remaining episodes may be released via the network’s CW Seed streaming service. Fellow new series (also an import) Fridge Wars is going to continue airing episodes on Sunday nights.
The premiere of Taskmaster was watched by 212,000 viewers on Sunday night. The comedy competition series, which has aired in the UK since 2015, has 10 episodes each season with the competition culminating in the season finale. With such a weak launch, the network may not have wanted to commit to running nine more episodes.
To replace Taskmaster, The CW is airing season 15 of Supernatural from the beginning, in preparation for the return of this series later this fall. “Back And To The Future” will be rerun this Sunday night and “Raising Hell” will air the next Sunday night. Production on the show’s final installments is underway.

I must totally agree with Heather R about Taskmaster. The non-British wouldn’t understand the show. I still hope that the show will be saved by the CW Seed.
I think Taskmaster is a brilliant programme but it is made for a predominantly British audience who will appreciate and understand the humour. I think a lot of non-Brits will not understand it.
I have to say I had no idea what this show was or what it was about. but since it was listed as a new series I set it up to record. I never saw any promotions about it but decided to watch it from the recording the other night and loved it. But saw someone mentioned you can watch it on YouTube so guess I’ll go there because I was actually looking forward to seeing more of this one.
Go to the Official Taskmaster Youtube Channel and you can watch from Season 1 to Season 7 Episode 3 right now. They continue to add more episodes and seasons I think once a week. If you loved it from one of the worst Seasons then you will really enjoy the first few seasons and all the rest. I am patiently waiting for Season 10 to Air. Nice to see a new fan to this TV Show.
I love Taskmaster. I was watching an episode on Youtube as I read this news. I’ve seen season 8 before. The comedians/celebrities of season (series) 8 are the weakest group I can name. Perhaps not the best way to introduce a wonderful series to a new audience.
I watch the English (over the pond) on YouTube pretty religiously for the last couple of years. It’s clever play between the two hosts, the cleverness of the guests, the cleverness of the tasks…well, I guess I just think it’s a clever open ended show. There are many examples of shows that haven’t had good starts and then had great 5+ year runs. Short sighted management decision in my opinon.
When are the Supernatural Season 15 episodes reairing because I am bored without Supernatural on the summer schedule?
If the host and guests dressed in tights and beat each other up the micro-encephalitic programmers at CW would have given it three seasons to fail. Seriously, Taskmaster is a brilliant, funny show. I have watched seven series on YouTube and never fail to get a belly laugh at some point. I will say the guest selection for the single episode shown was a bit minor and all Taskmaster first episodes in each series fall a bit flat. The stars need a learning curve to understand the format. Pity the CW couldn’t figure that out.

The CW did a terrible job of promoting TaskMaster, then pulled it after 1 episode? They need to give it another chance. Won’t be watching anything on that network until they do.
They picked the worst season. They just needed a filler for one Sunday or Saturday. They had plans for the Supernatural Re-run to get you prepared for the next season they didnt really want to pickup the whole Taskmaster Show.
Just watch it on the official Taskmaster Youtube Channel it is all there up until Season 6 and they continue to add more to it. They still have 3 Seasons to add. You can get your fix of the show from there and not have to put up with CW and the horrible Corporation it is.
After one episode? Jeez. They really have no patience, huh? I was personally really enjoying it, so I’m bummed. Couldn’t they at least aired the rest On Demand or something.

I’m disappointed, too–Taskmaster is a great show. If you want to watch more of the show, if not this specific season, the Taskmaster channel on YouTube has been uploading an episode a week for a while. They’re up to season 6 as of now, if you want to watch other seasons for free!

I was looking forward to seeing the latest season’s of Taskmaster. But the CW gives it no promotion, dumps in the middle of Sunday nite and expects it to find its audience in one airing. Geesh!
I am heart broken that it was “pulled” already. How can that happen after just one episode – hardly given a chance. I watch it on YouTube. With all the “crap” on television, this his clean heathy fun that the children can watch and participate in. When we were all quarantined they did a home version, perfect for families to work/play together and share the love! Sad sad sad.
I don’t understand why they canceled it so quickly. Guess I’ll keep watching it on YouTube. Alex and Greg are genius, love Taskmaster.
They picked an episode from Season 8 which is not uploaded to Youtube yet as a filler. They just needed something temporary. I think this was setup so that they could line up the Supernatural re-runs and not actually pickup Taskmaster for its full season. They had it cancelled before it even aired. If you want to watch the full thing from Season 1 to whatever is uploaded then just go watch the full episodes on Youtube.

I have a good laugh when I read how Taskmaster was replaced by another show because it was low rated. I still can’t believe that I read that statement. It is too much. I still hope that CW Seed will give the show a better break.
