Wade won’t have additional chances to find love in the 2021-22 season. CBS has cancelled The Unicorn comedy series so viewers won’t be getting a third year.
The Unicorn stars Walton Goggins, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Omar Miller, Maya Lynne Robinson, Ruby Jay, Makenzie Moss, and Devin Bright. Following the loss of his wife, Wade (Goggins) is now the single parent to their adolescent daughters, Grace (Jay) and Natalie (Moss). With the encouragement of his kids and close friends like Forrest (Corddry), Delia (Watkins), Ben (Miller), and Michelle (Robinson), Wade decides to try dating again. To his amazement, Wade is told that he’s considered a hot commodity in the dating world and the perfect single guy, aka a “unicorn”. He’s employed, attractive, and has a proven track record of commitment. Thanks to the support of his little girls and his friends, Wade is hoping to find happiness again and puts himself and his healing heart out into the world.
Airing on Thursday nights, the second season of The Unicorn averages a 0.45 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.61 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 37% in the demo and down by 36% in viewership. It was the network’s lowest-rated comedies of the season.
Word is that producers were working on finding ways to cut costs for a potential third season but the network decided not to renew the show.
The show was lacking but the potential was high. Shame that they couldn’t have a smooth season 2 and having it on a competitive night probably didn’t help either.
So disgusted with CBS right now! They are canceling good shows left and right.
I am very disappointed with the cancelation of this funny comedy show. It was the best comedy on tv and should have been granted a 3rd season.
Well, this season wasn’t as sharp as the last, but it was still very enjoyable. CBS should have greenlit season 3.
Smart, funny, enjoyable series. Dumb move to cancel it. Probably to be replaced by some ****** reality TV like the “Bachelorette “.
This is sad. Most sitcoms are vapid but this one is one of the smartest sitcoms on the air! Thursday night is packed with too many good shows and maybe it was difficult to compete. Why not move it to another night?
WTF! Such an important, engaging funny show! I am smacking my head. This is the 3rd show this week that has been cancelled and is so great!
Please, some other smart network pick up this show? It’s making my head hurt. I have fewer and fewer reasons to watch Network television. Guess I’ll be watching more Netflix’s, Prime and Disney this Summer/Fall!!!
It was the best sitcom on TV. WTF!! What kind of **** will you be putting on its place!!!!
This was one of the best shows on TV. Super disappointed. Perhaps another network sees how great it is and picks it up!
This was one of the funniest and intelligently written shows on tv in a long time. It’s a travesty that it was cancelled.
Seems like they are canceling all the good shows, and won’t be left much to watch. While this wasn’t my favorite it was enjoyable to watch. Mom was my favorite all time show and they canceled that. Guess I’ll have to check out Netflix more often
I thought this was a cute show, but it was not among my favorites. I think it was worthy of being continued.
This was a great show and cast. Another dumb move by CBS. They are on a roll it seems.
very upset about not a third season. but of course its all about money. where can i write a letter of complaint
Really liked this show…great story lines and great acting….really disappointing…..
This is disappointing. It had a great cast. Too bad it wasn’t a Chuck Lorre show. It would be getting season 3. The two shows from CL that got renewed aren’t among his better shows and I quickly tuned out.
Yeah, but if it was a Chuck Lorre show, it would go maybe two more seasons and then Walton Goggins would leave and the show would limp on for another season or two without the main character.
How do I know? “Two & a Half Men” and “Mom”.
This show was alright. Great cast. Maybe the title scared people away? They thought it was some sort of kids show about magical flying horses with a horn on their head, or whatever?
No no she wasn’t not watchable. This network is slowly turning into a real wasteland
This was the funniest show on tv, very disappointing. Great cast, great story lines. It will be missed!!!
