The original version of The Equalizer TV show ran for four seasons on CBS and was a middle-of-the-road performer in the ratings. Now, more than 20 years later, the network has rebooted the show. How will this new version perform? Will The Equalizer be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
A reimagining of the 1985-89 action crime series, The Equalizer TV show stars Queen Latifah, Chris Noth, Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Liza Lapira, Adam Goldberg, and Laya DeLeon Hayes. The story follows Robyn McCall (Latifa), an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background. She uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn. To most, Robyn appears to be just an average single mom who is quietly raising her daughter (Hayes) and living with her aunt (Toussaint). However, to a trusted few, Robyn is “The Equalizer”, an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who’s also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption. Joining Robyn as champions of justice her former CIA handler (Noth), an edgy bar owner and past colleague (Lapira), and a paranoid and brilliant white-hat hacker (Goldberg). As Robyn aids the oppressed and exploited, her work garners the attention of a shrewd NYPD Detective (Kittles) who doggedly seeks to uncover the identity of the vigilante known as “The Equalizer”.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

*3/10/21 update: The Equalizer has been renewed for a second season on CBS.
What do you think? Do you like the The Equalizer TV series on CBS? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Hilariously awful! This atrocity is going to be cancelled within half a season. I don’t think ANY TV show could be as bad as Batwoman on the CW, but this one is going to give it a run for its money. The person who decided to cast Queen Latifah as an action hero should be Baker acted.
The last time such obvious editing to compensate for the lead actor’s lack of athletic ability was back in the 1970’s when 400lb Bill Conrad was playing Frank Cannon. Dreadful, but hilarious at the same time!
If you don’t like anything on TV, why do you have one?
I like it! I remember watching the original with Edward Woodward as a kid and always enjoyed it, and I was looking forward to this reboot (unlike Walker…).
Queen Latifah is just so immensely likeable onscreen that she sort of carries this show to star, but Adam Goldberg is in everything for a reason, and Liza Lapira is a good sidekick.
I caught a viewer review somewhere complaining that this wasn’t “realistic.” An ex-CIA agent doing vigilante work isn’t supposed to be realistic. It’s supposed to be satisfying justice fiction, which it is.
Didn’t watch the pilot and don’t plan on watching the remaining episodes either
Please please cancel it
Not sure yet. Weak, but will give another try.
I also noticed all of the negative comments came from men. They can not see a women being skilled and clever.
Some lines I heard were awful and the premise sounds bad.QL can do better.
I haven’t seen the show myself but I think it’s entirely possible that some men just watched the show and maybe just didn’t enjoy it as a piece of entertainment. There might even be some women who have seen it and don’t think it’s that great. Stop trying to pit men and women against each other. That crap is getting old.
That show is embarrassing. Chubby 50 year old woman is not beating anyone up
I loved it.Great start .I always feel that people dont give a show with a women in it a chance especially a women of color. You have to let the characters develop.
I personally thought it was very good Queen Latifah played her role like a well seasoned pro She is what you call a performer. I love how she plays that character. The equalizer is and was a favorite show of my from way back. People please give it a chance
AWful in every way ! Bad acting, poor script, tired plot. This dreck is worse than the Magnum PI remake andt hat lowered the bar.
I enjoyed watching the show The Equalizer with Queen Latifah I think it’s a good show people give the show a chance and yes I think it should be renewed for season 2 people used to say the same thing about other shows they see one episode they condemn it give it a chance you can’t really tell if to just one showing look at all the shows that have been on for years people give it a chance I hope it stays on and I hope they renew it for season 2 please please I don’t watch too many… Read more »
You can in this awful show
Predict a 70% drop be episode 2
60 point someodd percent for one of the drop columns and the other was over 80 percent in decline.Lost almost 13 mil. viewers after episode 2.I sense a quick cancelation.
shows That premier after the Super Bowl (which gets the biggest ratings of the year) always have big drops in the second episode. How could they not? If Equalizer can maintain the .9 demo (not likely), it will be cbs’ second-best rated scripted show. I sense a renewal.
People thought the same with batwoman
This was so bad. I can’t see it lasting long.
The new Queen Latifah series Equalier will be short lived . Terrible writing , worse acting , completly predictable fight scenes . Plus no one has perfect hair in every scene . It was big a let down and boreing disappointment as the Super Bowl .
The Equalizer Needs to be CANCEL this show has bad acting .
They did not show the episode after the Super Bowel. They had the CBS News and after that the Steven Colbert Show. Will they air episode:1 S:1
You are wrong.
