Wade won’t have additional chances to find love in the 2021-22 season. CBS has cancelled The Unicorn comedy series so viewers won’t be getting a third year.
The Unicorn stars Walton Goggins, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Omar Miller, Maya Lynne Robinson, Ruby Jay, Makenzie Moss, and Devin Bright. Following the loss of his wife, Wade (Goggins) is now the single parent to their adolescent daughters, Grace (Jay) and Natalie (Moss). With the encouragement of his kids and close friends like Forrest (Corddry), Delia (Watkins), Ben (Miller), and Michelle (Robinson), Wade decides to try dating again. To his amazement, Wade is told that he’s considered a hot commodity in the dating world and the perfect single guy, aka a “unicorn”. He’s employed, attractive, and has a proven track record of commitment. Thanks to the support of his little girls and his friends, Wade is hoping to find happiness again and puts himself and his healing heart out into the world.
Airing on Thursday nights, the second season of The Unicorn averages a 0.45 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.61 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 37% in the demo and down by 36% in viewership. It was the network’s lowest-rated comedies of the season.
Word is that producers were working on finding ways to cut costs for a potential third season but the network decided not to renew the show.
I am so disappointed that The Unicorn has been cancelled. I don’t watch many shows on tv but this and Mom were my escape from all the doom and gloom in the world. I think the actors were excellent. They will be missed
good show it will be missed.
I loved it and am sad to see it go. Intelligent and funny. Great cast with great chemistry. One of the better shows to come out in recent years. I will miss it.
One of the best, intelligent comedies. Great cast and writing. So disgusted to see trashy shows renewed and this little gem cancelled.

Wow! I was not aware that this show had been canceled and would not be returning for a third season. I am very disappointed for myself and for the fine actors who made it so enjoyable to watch.
I looked forward to this show each week, I don’t understand why this show would have been cancelled.
Truly a shame. Great show, amazing cast and relatable stories. Apparently the Gen X demographic has fallen down the food chain. Hopefully we see it come back to a streaming service since I too have cut the cord on network tv. Enjoy season 22 of whatever cop show Tom Selleck is in now.
Total shame what Boyd Crowder had to do to pay the rent.
I really enjoyed watching the Unicorn. There are not too many shows that I like but this one was one of the few. I’m fed up with the networks getting rid of good shows and keeping stupid reality shows. I’m cutting the cord to cable and satellite. I will stream movies from Netflix and Amazon prime. I’ll be saving money and not be upset with networks keeping crappy shows and getting rid of good ones.
COME ON NOW! All the funny shows are being ripped away from us and I call BS to that!
Who the hell is making these decisions to cancel these shows? The Unicorn is canceled…why? Do the “Suits” sitting in a Boatdroom ever consider to ask the hard working “Middle Class” what they like? Is it really all about the millenniums? What they are interested in watching…really??? The millennium’s are “Streaming”. They have no clue what an authentic, comedy or drama tv show is all about. Shame on the networks for buying into that crap!
I hope someone starts an on-line campaign to encourage some other network (TBS?) to pick up this show before the excellent cast becomes unavailable.
The combination of family, romance, multi-racial freindships — it’s everything one could expect from a mature sitcom.
Oh my God… the networks are canceling so many shows. They keep the rotten ones on. So tired of this. I think they should take a poll from EVERYONE and not just the 18 to 49 group.
