A CBS crime drama, Magnum PI stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill. The mystery thriller centers on former Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), who is back from Afghanistan and working as a private investigator. Magnum lives in a guest cottage on the Robin’s Nest estate in Oahu, where he also serves as a security consultant. With his team at the ready, a vintage Ferrari at his disposal, and his trademark aviator sunglasses, Magnum is always ready to crack the next case.
The series launched in September to a 1.16 in the 18-49 demographic with 8.12 million viewers. The numbers have fallen quite a bit since then and the 13 episodes have averaged a 0.96 in the demo with 6.07 million. Compared to the 21 scripted CBS shows, Magnum PI ranks ninth in the demo and has done significantly better in the timeslot than last year’s occupants (cancelled sitcoms like Kevin Can Wait, Superior Donuts, 9JKL, and Living Biblically).
CBS also renewed two other freshman shows – FBI and The Neighborhood — for the 2019-20 season. “Each of these distinctive shows has made their mark in a variety of ways,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “Our goals this season were to introduce new series that audiences are passionate about, add more strength to a winning schedule and create more inclusive programming.” Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming added, “We’re thrilled by the creative direction and performance of these three shows as they continue to grow in popularity and resonate with the Network’s viewers.”
The network has not renewed Sunday’s God Friended Me for a second season yet but a renewal is expected. Renewals of Happy Together and Murphy Brown are seen as more of a longshot.

Love it it’s,not the,old school magnum but a up to date new version.. It cool miss the days of old but like the new age version a lot

Love the new Magnum better than old one! Particularly like Higgins as a female and the new TC is a real nice guy in real life, unlike t.he old TC, Roger Mosley, who is a prejudiced, hostile jerk in real life (I had the unpleasant experience of spending some time with him a number of years ago).
I LOVE the new Magnum! So happy it wasn’t cancelled. and The Neighborhood and FBI are on my weekly watch list too. COOL BEANS!!!!

I really love the new Magnum PI. Thank you for bringing it back. It is a good show to watch because it has no foul language. Jay Hernandez plays a really good guy and he is so good looking.
WE love Magnum PI! One of the few shows we can watch as a family. We don’t watch many of the junk on TV. Whenever there is a good show it gets cancelled! PLEASE DON’T CANCEL MAGNUM PI!!!

They would be crazy to not keep this on for the next 5 years. The time slot stinks though. You don’t put a brand new show up against The Bachelor, DWTS or American Ninja Warriors. Who is running the store at CBS anyway?? Do you think you are going to beat Goliath that easy? Put it on a night they have a chance to gain an audience.
Thrilled Magnum has been renewed for a second season. I love this show and the cast. It is always entertaining and of course the scenery does not hurt
