FBI: Most Wanted is losing one of its leads. Julian McMahon has announced his departure from the CBS procedural series. His final episode is now in production, and it will air in March.
Playing FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jesse “Jess” LaCroix, McMahon has been on the series since the beginning and appeared in the backdoor pilot for the series on FBI. A new character will be introduced to fill his shoes. McMahon said the following about leaving the CBS series, per Deadline:
“Over the past few months, the producers of FBI: Most Wanted and I have had discussions about my departure from the show in favor of additional creative pursuits and the transition of my character Jess LaCroix. These ongoing conversations have given us an opportunity to orchestrate a seamless and productive way for me to leave the show.
I would like to express the gratitude and admiration I have had working with [executive producers] Dick Wolf and Peter Jankowski. I’m extremely proud of the work we have done together and put the development of this show, and my character Jess, at the top of my professional experience list. I wish the show, and its cast & crew, the greatest success in the future. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play Jess; he is a good man.”
Wolf also spoke about McMahon’s exit from FBI: Most Wanted:
“We are saddened to see Julian leave. His portrayal of agent Jess LaCroix has been a key factor in the success of FBI: Most Wanted. We will miss him and we wish him the best in his next chapter.”
McMahon is not the first cast departure for FBI: Most Wanted this season. Kellan Lutz left the series in September.
What do you think? Are you surprised to find out about McMahon’s departure from FBI: Most Wanted? Do you plan to continue watching the series on CBS?
Really upset and sure I won’t watch again.
Losing Jesse from this one of my favorite shows. Pretty much sucks. Him and his daughter and family kept me watching since season one. I’m almost pretty sure I won’t continue to watch. But do wish the Actor the best in his upcoming endeavors.
I only watched the show because of him. I won’t be watching as I don’t like the character of the person to take over his role for one.
Yet another good show CBS has messed up! All the stupid reality show that are fake that now take up space! Enough with reality shows!!!
I was SO SAD to see the ending of Jess’ character! He is such a pivotal character to this show he will be difficult to replace. Time will tell if his replacement will hold my attention like Jess did.
I was so shocked by Jess leaving the show. I will watch long enough to see if the show is as good now without him.
Will not watch. It is like the Sopranos without James Gandolfini.
I hope they are renewed
So shocked to see Jess die. He will be missed. I will continue to watch this show of course.
I’m saddened to see Jess killed off. He & his Native in-laws and daughter Tali were a big reason I watched this show. I hated seeing positive Native roles being carved out of the series, especially since I am Native. I guess I’ll have to see who gets to replace him & if they can bond & bind with the team as to whether or not I’ll continue to watch.
Sad to see original cast leave. So far I like the new cast replacements but now that Jess is gone my continued viewing will depend on new cast(s).
Not
Happy as he was great. Maybe some sex symbol will take over but him being a father and love interest gave a down to earth feeling in between cases.
I was shocked and almost fell off my couch
Probably not watching the show anymore. The only one of the FBI trilogy I will probably watch is the FBI: International.
I am sorry to hear McMahon is leaving the show. I love his character not only as an FBI agent but especially his role as a father. I miss Lutz very much and his character. The dynamics of the show I am sure will be different. I watched the show for the two actors and characters. I think it depends on who now joins the casat.
