Hold onto your favorite Hawaiian shirt for the 2020-21 season. CBS just announced they’ve renewed Magnum PI for a third season.
A reboot of the 1980s series, the procedural follows Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez), a decorated former Navy SEAL who repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. The cast also includes Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill.
The second season of Magnum PI is averaging a 0.64 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.53 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 28% in the demo and up by 9% in viewership.
The two-hour second season finale airs this Friday, May 8th.
What do you think? Have you seen the new Magnum PI? Will you watch season three of this CBS TV series?
I love the show they started a little weak but really got into the “new” characters….I am old enough to have watched the original and this is just enough different to make it a winner!! How soon can we see the new season!!!! Is it still on Friday??? been watching CBS app and the old shows…..
Love the show and all the characters and actors who play them. I’m 72, remember the original Magnum, watched that one, too. Love the Hawaii scenes, been to the islands many times and love them.
Love the show, can’t wait for the 3rd season to get underway.
Miss Hawaii and hoping to come back
Cant wait to see season 3 i was happy to see there was a new version of magnum pi
Watched every episode. Its an engaging show, stories, cast, etc. Hope it stays around for many more seasons.
Boy, I sure hope your bringing Magnum P.I. back and I hope it’s back by September, there is enough of the ****** stuff on. Might as well have pron on for what you have been showing. Magnum P.I. is great Love all the star’s. I am about ready to stop watching KMOV altogether You taken off MacGyver and Magnum and put junk on, why couldn’t you put that stuff on one of the other night’s no you had to put them on in place of the two show’s. Then you had rerun’s on MacGyver, taken Magnum off. you sure don’t… Read more »
I really believe CBS has to get behind Magnum, their slot and allow it to grow, interrupting by having Daytime Emmy’s or last week “Love Island” only hurt the continuity, the show has potential, Rick, TC, Kumu and Katsumoto all have great chemistry and tie story-lines together. Magnum and Higgins, unfortunately from the beginning with Lenkov had to have the potential romantic entanglement, which came and went with the faux wedding. What they don’t need is superfluous characters as Hawaii Five-0 would bring in, but in 40 minutes can’t be developed properly. My biggest gripe knowing the Show is there… Read more »
Very rarely is a “reboot” better than the original, but that is definitely the case with ‘Magnum’. It’s an ‘action show’ for intelligent people, with the action being justified at certain times during the hour, like normal action shows used to be. The cast is great, as is the chemistry between the characters, and the characters with the viewer. As a fan of the original Hawaii 5-0 (and MacGyver) I found the “reboots” of both totally unwatchable from the beginning. Really really horrible just using the names, and appealing to people (mainly guys) of very low intelligence. Magnum, thank God,… Read more »
I love watching magnum. I hope it has a long run.
Love Magnum PI and wish it to return again and again and again
Yes! Most definitely my husband and I will be watching Magnum season 3. It is our favorite show and we look forward to seeing Magnum and his pals and Higgins go after the bad guys each week.
Oh Heavens yes I will be watching it. It’s one of my favorite shows. Can’t wait until the new season begins!
My wife and I love the reboot as much as we enjoyed the first Magnum. It is an interesting retake with the new “Higgins”. Can’t wait for the new season.
I love the Jay Hernandez Magnum!!! I like it much better than the Tom Selleck version. Hernandez isn’t always panning the camera with a cheesy grin. He also portrays more compassion than Selleck did.
The show has been developing the main characters and writing better scripts. It always takes awhile for the characters to find their rhythm in relationship to each other and the story. I would like to see the show continue.
