There’s more work for these Navy SEALs to do in the 2021-22 television season. The SEAL Team TV show has been renewed for a fifth season but is moving from CBS to Paramount+.
SEAL Team stars David Boreanaz, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley, and Toni Trucks with Justin Melnick, Tyler Grey, Scott Foxx, and Judd Lormand in recurring roles. The military action-adventure series centers on an exclusive Navy SEAL unit as they train for, plan, and risk their very lives to carry out perilous missions for the sake and honor of their country. Fierce and focused Jason Hayes (Boreanaz) leads the Tier One team. Despite the hardship it causes them and their families, this SEAL team is ready, willing, and able to embark upon secret missions at the drop of a hat. Team members include Jason’s trusted confidant, Ray Perry (Brown Jr.); loyal yet self-destructive Sonny Quinn (Buckley); and young Clay Spenser (Thieriot), a multilingual and second-generation SEAL. Others who are vital to the team’s success are no-nonsense Ensign Lisa Davis (Trucks) and troop commander Lt. Cdr. Eric Blackburn (Lormand).
Airing on Wednesday nights on CBS, the fourth season of SEAL Team averages a 0.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.95 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season three, that’s down by 27% in the demo and down by 20% in viewership.
Though the military drama has a devoted following, it’s one of the lower-rated scripted series on the network. While procedural dramas do very well when sold in International markets, SEAL Team isn’t as popular, reportedly because it focuses on the U.S. military and isn’t as relatable to audiences outside the States. It’s been in danger of being cancelled each year for a while.
The series does very well in streaming so, the fifth season will launch on CBS in the fall but, after four episodes, will then move to Paramount+ as an exclusive. Prior seasons of SEAL Team are already available on the service. According to a comment by Cudlitz, fifth season episodes will be longer.
Like other comments I will NEVER pay to watch shows that I have followed since day 1 such as EVIL and SEAL TEAM…sorry CBS no dice!!
It seems every time I really get into a series, they cancel or make it hard to find to watch. This is a great show full of action and keeps a bit of patriotism that has been forced out by those who have no interest or care for our country. I’m retired and if it’s not part of Xfinity, I will have a problem. I do already own some of it on DVD but the future is so fascinating!
Please boost your ratings look forward to seeing it every season. Please reconsider it. Enjoy it and love it.
I am retired ,& on a fixed income. I can not afford to pay to watch it, so unfortunately GOODBYE SEAL TEAM!
Love Seal Team and have watched every episode. I guess it will be canceled as far as I’m concerned. I will not pay for a streaming service to follow it. BAD MOVE CBS
I have followed Seal Team from day one. I can’t afford to pay for for it I live on limited income cause I’m retired. Very sad for me.
Have watched seal team since the first episode. However with the show moving to paramount+ I have no intentions of paying to watch it. I’ll consider it as being cancelled. Everything is always about money.
I agree with everyone else! Pay enough for tv as it is. Goodbye SEAL Team after show 4.
Love the show. Sorry to say I won’t be watching any of season 5 if you plan on taking away after 4 episodes. I’ll just figure it was canceled
I love the seal team show, my husband and I are stuck on it but we pay more then 200$ a month for cable tv, We’ll watch the first 4 episodes on cbs and that’s it. Goodbye Seal team
I loved watching this series every week. But I doubt I’ll pay anymore money to watch it on a different channel/streaming I have to pay more for.
I. Think Seal Team is the best and probably the closest thing we have to seeing the real thing. I believe the US needs that now more than ever since the pandemic and our troops not being able to come home. I never saw much advertising for it either David, Max and the whole cast are a perfect fit to the show.
Seems to me they’re going to move all scripted content to these streaming sites. If you want it, you’re going to have to pay for it.
All that’ll be left on broadcast TV is inane game shows, reality shows, and sports. Yipee. What f@#%ing geniuses.
Totally agree. Something the world needs to see and they will probably put a reality show in the spot.
Having the same goodbye for CBS show EVIL. It was a great one season show on CBS, now moved to Paramount+, so bye! I’d keep an eye out for reruns on Pluto TV, and also new episodes to pop up on Pluto TV Paramount+ channel. There are gobs and gobs or channels on Pluto TV for free (app or internet at plutotv.com), many of them are channels just for old shows from what is now Paramount’s archives. Pluto TV is now owned by Viacom CBS. I’ve been watching it before they owned it, but once tbey purchased it, a ton… Read more »
I already pay over $100 a month for tv with no premium channels. Can’t afford Paramount+, so you a effectively cancelling Seal Team for me CBS. It’s getting to be BS, money, money, money.
I guess I’ll be waiting until Season 5 comes out on DVD and get it from the library.
