It turns out that Warner Bros. was “smarter than the average bear” when they produced the Yogi Bear movie. Though many panned it, the film was a success and the studio is moving forward with plans for a sequel.
Based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon character, Yogi Bear premiered last December to a $16.4 million opening. That’s not a great start but the picture ended up averaging more than $100 million before it left U.S. theaters. It also grossed another $100 million internationally and you just know they must have sold a lot of DVDs.
