Rose McGowan and Sherri ShepherdMuch of television production may have shut down due to the writers strike but the performers from many of your favorite cancelled shows are keeping busy with other projects.

Rose McGowan (Charmed) has been booked at the new co-host for Turner Classic Movies’ The Essentials series which discusses groundbreaking films. She’ll be working with reporter Robert Osborne as of March 8th and replaces Carrie Fisher.

Sherri Shepherd (The Wedding Bells, currently The View) has signed on to Lee Daniels’ Push. The film follows the story of an overweight and pregnant Harlem teen who tries to better her life by enrolling in an alternative school. Mo’Nique (The Parkers) also stars.

Toni Trucks (All of Us) has completed work on three indie films. She stars with Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers) in Mr. Art Critic, with Melvin Jackson Jr. (The Wire) in Hitting the Bricks, and Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos) in Pizza with Bullets. Trucks also has a recurring role on the upcoming VH1 scripted series The Life and Times of Marcus Felony Brown.

This sitcom follows two half-sisters, Mona (Rachel True) and Dee Dee Thorne (Essence Atkins), who grew up separately and in very different homes. Years ago, outspoken Phyliss (Telma Hopkins) had divorced Charles Thorne (Obba Babatunde) when their daughter Mona was a small child. Wealthy Charles then married self-absorbed Big Dee Dee (Valarie Pettiford) and together, they had Dee Dee.
